Deconstructed Margarita 54/365
Feb 22, 2017
Well today is National Margarita Day, I wasn't going to go with this today, but after seeing it everywhere, I thought I'd hop on the bandwagon too. Personally I hate tequila and would never order one, though working as a bartender for way longer than I care to admit when I was younger, I have made thousands of these. Today's shoot was kinda rushed, Myrt and I had just gotten back from the park and she just passed out on the living room floor, so I took the quick opportunity I had and rushed to set it all up.
Before I get into the shoot and lighting, today was a record breaking day in Milwaukee with a temp of 71!!!! In Wisconsin it should still suck balls and be 30 something out. So Myrt and I went to the park to find some ducks. Just yesterday she began pointing to all the animals and identifying them in her book, so we went out today to show her the real ducks. We live by an enormous park with trails and a huge pond so off we went.
I threw in some wood chips to act as bread and the rushed right over to us, Myrt was thrilled:)
Alright on to the shoot, the lighting is the same as yesterday. Kitchen table; big soft box. But at the end of it I wanted to show the full scene just natural light.
Things totally didn't go as planned and I forgot the camera was still in Aperature mode. This changed the shutter speed each shot which changed the exposure. I went ahead and focused stacked them anyway and ended up with this -
It turned out OK, but I liked the birdseye deconstructed look the best and went with that for the final choice of today's image:) It just goes to show, don't rush things and we all make mistakes:) No big deal....
Also, the shot in the picture was 1/4oz Rum and water...LOLOL. Normally I'm a purist when it comes to pictures, however today was not the day to blow money on tequila I probably would never drink. After posting a preview shot earlier on FB, my Dad stopped by and thought I had made margaritas, too funny, I had to break the bad news, and we went and got some beers instead. Just goes to show, the camera just shows a picture; not always the truth.
